The Scaffolding Protein DLG5 Promotes Glioblastoma Growth by Controling Sonic Hedgehog Signaling in Tumor Stem Cells

DLG5 was upregulated in malignant gliomas compared to other solid tumors, being the predominant DLG member in all glioblastoma molecular subtypes. DLG5 promoted glioblastoma stem cell invasion, viability, and self-renewal.

Novel Function of THEMIS2 in the Enhancement of Cancer Stemness and Chemoresistance by Releasing PTP1B from MET

Scientists discovered an intrinsic signaling scaffold function of THEMIS2, which acted as a novel regulator of cancer stemness in promoting multiple cancer stemness properties including sphere formation, stemness markers expression, chemoresistance and tumorigenicity with low numbers of cancer cells implantation.

    Abstract

SP1-Induced lncRNA DUBR Promotes Stemness and Oxaliplatin Resistance of Hepatocellular Carcinoma via E2F1-CIP2A Feedback

Investigators discovered a specificity protein 1-induced long noncoding RNA—DPPA2 upstream binding RNA (DUBR) and its high expression in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and liver CSCs.

    Abstract

HIF1α/HIF2α Induces Glioma Cell Dedifferentiation into Cancer Stem Cells through Sox2 under Hypoxic Conditions

Scientists performed a series of experiments to verify whether HIF1α, HIF2α and Sox2 regulated glioma cell dedifferentiation under hypoxic conditions. Sphere formation by single glioma cells was observed, and CD133 and CD15 expression was compared between the normoxic and hypoxic groups.

Suppression of Stemness and Enhancement of Chemosensibility in the Resistant Melanoma Were Induced by Astragalus Polysaccharide through PD-L1 Downregulation

Investigators established chemo-resistant melanoma cells and found that expression of stemness genes were upregulated in the resistant melanoma cells. And Astragalus polysaccharide could downregulate expression of stemness genes.

    Abstract

BIX-01294 Enhances the Effect of Chemotherapy on Colorectal Cancer by Inhibiting the Expression of Stemness Genes

A small molecule EHMT-2 inhibitor, BIX-01294, was evaluated for its activity in inhibiting CSCs in human colorectal cancer by in vitro and in vivo experiments.

    Abstract

CD44-Positive Cancer Stem Cells from Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Exhibit Reduced Proliferation and Stemness Gene Expression upon Adipogenic Induction

Scientists assessed adipogenic differentiation and its effect on the proliferation and stemness markers in CD44+ oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) CSCs. D44+ CSCs were sorted by magnetic sorting from the single-cell suspension of the OSCC tumor.

HPV16 E6 Promotes Cell Proliferation, Migration, and Invasion of Human Cervical Cancer Cells by Elevating Both EMT and Stemness Characteristics

Human papilloma virus (HPV)16 E6 silence or overexpression were carried out to evaluate the possible mechanisms of HPV16 E6 function in cervical cancer cells with different HPV16 E6 expression background.

    Abstract

MACC1 Regulates the AKT/STAT3 Signaling Pathway to Induce Migration, Invasion, Cancer Stemness, and Suppress Apoptosis in Cervical Cancer Cells

Researchers verified that treatment with the STAT3 activator had significant reversal effects on the malignant behaviors of cervical cancer (CC) cells and CC stemness.
