    TOP STORY

Circ6401, a Novel Circular RNA, Is Implicated in Repair of the Damaged Endometrium by Wharton’s Jelly-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells through Regulation of the miR-29b-1-5p/RAP1B Axis

Wharton’s jelly (WJ)-MSCs were cocultured with or without endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) damaged by mifepristone. TUNEL staining assays, EdU proliferation assays, flow cytometry apoptosis assays, and western blot assays were performed to observe the reparative effect of WJ-MSCs on damaged ESCs.

Extracellular Vesicles from Hydroxycamptothecin Primed Umbilical Cord Stem Cells Enhance Anti-Adhesion Potential for Treatment of Tendon Injury

Extracellular vesicles derived from unprimed human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells or human umbilical cord stem cells (HCPT)-extracellular vesicles (EVs) were isolated and characterized. A rat model of Achilles tendon injury was used to confirm the anti-adhesion effect of HCPT-EVs and compared with that of unprimed EVs in vivo.

Molecular Investigation of Adequate Sources of Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Cell Therapy of COVID-19-Associated Organ Failure

Researchers report here that ACE2 was highly expressed in adult bone marrow, adipose tissue or umbilical cord‐derived MSC. On the other hand, placenta‐derived MSC expressed low levels of ACE2 but only in early passages of cultures.

Vascular Remodeling by Placenta-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Restores Ovarian Function in Ovariectomized Rat Model via the VEGF Pathway

Scientists investigated the restorative effect of placenta derived (PD)-MSCs on injured ovaries in ovariectomized rats and the ability of intravenous transplantation of PD-MSCs to enhance ovarian vasculature and follicular development.

Functional Comparison of Blood-Derived Human Neural Progenitor Cells

Investigators demonstrated a method to generate shortcut neural progenitor cells (sNPCs) from blood mononuclear cells and present a detailed comparison of these sNPCs with NPCs obtained from the same blood samples through stable induced pluripoent stem cells clones and a subsequent neural differentiation

Placental Multipotent Mesenchymal Stromal Cell-Derived Slit2 May Regulate Macrophage Motility during Placental Infection

Slit2 interacted with Robo4 that was highly expressed in RAW 264.7 macrophages: their interaction increased the adhesive ability of RAW 264.7 cells and inhibited migration.

Endothelial Progenitor/Stem Cells in Engineered Vessels for Vascular Transplantation

Umbilical-cord blood vessels were isolated for decellularization and to establish endothelial cell culture. Cultured cells were characterized by immunophenotype, gene expression and in vitro angiogenesis assay.

Optimization of UC-MSCs Cold-Chain Storage by Minimizing Temperature Fluctuations Using an Automatic Cryopreservation System

To minimize the effect of fluctuation in ambient temperature on stored cells, scientists designed an automatic cryopreservation system that handles cells under controlled temperatures.
