Regeneration of the Rotator Cuff Tendon-to-Bone Interface Using Umbilical Cord-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Gradient Extracellular Matrix Scaffolds from Adipose Tissue in a Rat Model

Researchers investigated the efficacy of a biomimetic hydroxyapatite-gradient scaffold isolated from adipose tissue with umbilical cord derived MSCs on the regeneration of the structure of the tendon-to-bone interface by analyzing the histological and biomechanical changes in a rat repair model.

Prophylactic Therapy with Human Amniotic Fluid Stem Cells Improved Survival in a Rat Model of Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Neonatal Sepsis through Immunomodulation via Aggregates with Peritoneal Macrophages

Amniotic fluid stem cells were isolated as CD117-positive cells from human amniotic fluid. Three-day-old rat pups were intraperitoneally treated with lipopolysaccharide to mimic neonatal sepsis.

DTI Tract‐Based Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping: An Initial Feasibility Study to Investigate the Potential Role of Myelination in Brain Connectivity Change in Cerebral Palsy Patients during Autologous Cord Blood Cell Therapy Using a Rotationally‐Invariant Quantitative Measure

A cohort of eight pediatric cereberal palsy (CP) patients with intact corticospinal tracts from a randomized, placebo‐controlled trial of autologous umbilical cord blood stem‐cell therapy in CP children was included in this study.

SARS-CoV-2 Entry Receptor ACE2 Is Expressed on Very Small CD45 Precursors of Hematopoietic and Endothelial Cells and in Response to Virus Spike Protein Activates the Nlrp3 Inflammasome

Investigators demonstrated for the first time that angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and the entry-facilitating transmembrane protease TMPRSS2 were expressed on very small CD133+CD34+LinCD45 cells in human umbilical cord blood, which could be specified into functional hematopoietic stem cells and endothelial progenitor cells.

hUC-MSCs Ameliorated CUMS-Induced Depression by Modulating Complement C3 Signaling-Mediated Microglial Polarization during Astrocyte-Microglia Crosstalk

Human umbilical cord (hUC)-MSCs were administered into chronic unpredictable mild stress model mice through the tail vein once a week for four weeks. After the administration of hUC-MSCs, the depression-like and anxiety-like phenotypes, neuronal histopathology, synaptic-related protein expression and inflammatory index of the mice were assessed.

Preeclampsia in Pregnancy Affecting the Stemness and Differentiation Potency of Hematopoietic Stem Cells of the Umbilical Cord Blood

Scientists investigated the effects of preeclampsia in pregnancy on the stemness and differentiation potency of umbilical cord blood-hematopoietic stem cells.

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Metabolism during Development and Aging

Researchers highlight how mitochondrial metabolism determines hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) fate, and especially focus on the links between mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and lysosomes in HSC metabolism.
