    TOP STORY
Donor Cell Type Can Influence the Epigenome and Differentiation Potential of Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells
Researchers compared bona fide human induced pluripotent stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood cells and neonatal keratinocytes. [Nat Biotechnol] Abstract

PUBLICATIONS (Ranked by Impact Factor of the Journal)

A Small CD11b+ Human B1 Cell Subpopulation Stimulates T Cells and Is Expanded in Lupus
Investigators found two kinds of B1 cells that are distinguished by multiple surface markers and distinct transcriptomic profiles. In both umbilical cord and adult peripheral blood, a CD11b+ subset constitutes ~1 out of every 8-10 B1 cells, whereas a CD11b subset constitutes the remaining B1 cells. [J Exp Med] Abstract

Blockade of Prostaglandin E2 Signaling through EP1 and EP3 Receptors Attenuates Flt3L-Dependent Dendritic Cell Development from Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells
Investigators show that prostaglandin E2 is required for optimal Flt3-ligand-mediated dendritic cell (DC) development and regulates expression of the Flt3 receptor on DC-committed progenitor cells. [Blood] Abstract

Virus Stimulation of Human Mast Cells Results in the Recruitment of CD56+ T Cells by a Mechanism Dependent on CCR5 Ligands
The role of human mast cell-derived chemokines in T-cell recruitment to virus infection was examined. Supernatants from primary human cord blood-derived mast cells infected with mammalian reovirus were examined for chemokine production and utilized in chemotaxis assays. [FASEB J]
    Abstract

Vitamin C Treatment Promotes Mesenchymal Stem Cell Sheet Formation and Tissue Regeneration by Elevating Telomerase Activity
Under vitamin C treatment, periodontal ligament stem cells can form cell sheet structures because of increased cell matrix production. In addition, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell sheets and umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell sheets were also well constructed using this method. [J Cell Physiol] Abstract

Intraspinal Injection of Human Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Cells Is Neuroprotective in a Transgenic Mouse Model of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Researchers evaluated the effects of direct intraspinal administration of human umbilical cord blood cells in a G93A transgenic mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis before (day 40) and after symptom onset (day 90). [Neurodegener Dis] Abstract

Escalated Lymphodepletion followed by Donor Lymphocyte Infusion Can Induce a Graft-Versus-Host Response without Overwhelming Toxicity
Eighteen patients with various non-CML hematological malignancies who relapsed following allogeneic hematopoietic SCT were treated with chemotherapy and lymphodepletion (LD)-donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) or LD-DLI upfront. [Bone Marrow Transplant] Abstract

Cytokine-Based High Log-Scale Expansion of Functional Human Dendritic Cells from Cord-Blood CD34-Positive Cells
Floating cultivation of cord-blood CD34+ cells under an optimized cytokine cocktail led these progenitor cells to stable log-scale proliferation and to dendritic cell differentiation. [Sci Rep] Abstract
