| Using the Imiquimod psoriasis mouse model, researchers found that MutT homolog 1 (MTH1) inhibition diminished psoriatic histological characteristics and normalized the levels of neutrophils and T cells in skin and skin-draining lymph nodes. The inhibition abolished the expression of Th17-associated cytokines in the skin, which was in line with decreased levels of IL-17-producing γδ T cells in lymph nodes. | To probe the function of alpha-synuclein (α-syn) in melanoma, the authors used CRISPR/Cas9 to knockout SNCA, the gene that codes for protein α-syn, in SK-Mel-28 melanoma cells. The SNCA-knockout clones in culture exhibited a decrease in the transferrin receptor 1, an increase in ferritin, an increase of reactive oxygen species and proliferated slower than control cells.
