Angiopoietin-2 Mediates Thrombin-Induced Monocyte Adhesion and Endothelial Permeability

In time course experiments, thrombin-stimulated Angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) up-regulation peaked prior to the expression of adhesion molecule ICAM-1 in human umbilical vein derived endothelial cells. Combinatorial Therapy with Three-Dimensionally Cultured Adipose-Derived Stromal Cells and Self-Assembling Peptides to Enhance Angiogenesis and Preserve Cardiac Function in Infarcted Hearts

Combinatorial therapy with three-dimensional cell masses (3DCMs) and self-assembling peptides (SAPs) was tested in a rat myocardial infarction model. By combining 3DCMs and SAPs, survival and retention of transplanted cells increased threefold when compared with treatment with 3DCMs alone and transplanted cells established vascular networks in infarcted hearts. Role of Klotho in Migration and Proliferation of Human Dermal Microvascular Endothelial Cells

Scientists showed that downregulation of Klotho (Kl) abrogated human dermal microvascular endothelial cell migration after 48 hours. On the other hand, migration of human dermal fibroblasts significantly increased after blocking Kl. Lack of Kl decreased expression of genes involved in the activation of endothelial cells and enhanced expression of genes involved in extracellular matrix remodeling and organization of connective tissue.
