Interpericyte Tunneling Nanotubes Regulate Neurovascular Coupling

Researchers identified nanotube-like processes that connected two bona fide pericytes on separate capillary systems, forming a functional network in the mouse retina, which they named interpericyte tunneling nanotubes

Glycolysis Links Reciprocal Activation of Myeloid Cells and Endothelial Cells in the Retinal Angiogenic Niche

Scientists showed that in the pathological angiogenic vascular niche, retinal myeloid cells, particularly macrophages/microglia that were spatially adjacent to endothelial cells, were highly glycolytic.

No Evidence for Erythro-Myeloid Progenitor-Derived Vascular Endothelial Cells in Multiple Organs

Genetic lineage tracing based on colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (Csf1r)-Mer-iCre-Mer showed no contribution of erythro-myeloid progenitors (EMPs) to brain endothelial cells identified by several markers. Researchers generated a knock-in mouse line by inserting an internal ribosome entry site (ires)-iCre cassette into the 3′ untranslated region of Csf1r gene to further investigate the cellular fates of EMPs.

Distinct Fibroblast Subsets Regulate Lacteal Integrity through YAP/TAZ-Induced VEGF-C in Intestinal Villi

Investigators showed that selective hyperactivation or depletion of YAP/TAZ in PDGFRβ+ intestinal stromal cells led to lacteal sprouting or regression with junctional disintegration and impaired dietary fat uptake.

Ischemia Induces Autophagy of Endothelial Cells and Stimulates Angiogenic Effects in a Hindlimb Ischemia Mouse Model

The autophagy pathway was induced under prolonged hypoxia in endothelial cells, and autophagy increased angiogenic activities.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa Virulence Proteins Pseudolysin and Protease IV Impede Cutaneous Wound Healing

Both pseudolysin and protease IV inhibited migration and survival of fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and endothelial cells. In three dimensional spheroid endothelial models and matrigel assays these proteins impeded sprouting and tube formation.

Metformin Reduces Saturated Fatty Acid-Induced Lipid Accumulation and Inflammatory Response by Restoration of Autophagic Flux in Endothelial Cells

Incubation of vascular endothelial cells with saturated fatty acid increased the accumulation of lipid droplets and impaired autophagic flux.

Distribution of Estrogen Receptor in the Rabbit Cervix during Pregnancy with Special Reference to Stromal Elements: An Immunohistochemical Study

The smooth muscles and the endothelial cells showed mild immunoreactivity to estrogen receptor alpha (ERA). Lymphocytes only exhibited strong immunoreactivity to ERA.

CD146, from a Melanoma Cell Adhesion Molecule to a Signaling Receptor

Overexpression of CD146 can be observed in most of malignancies and is implicated in nearly every step of the development and progression of cancers, especially vascular and lymphatic metastasis.
