    TOP STORY

Shaping Waves of Bone Morphogenetic Protein Inhibition during Vascular Growth

Oscillations in the expression of matrix Gla protein and Crossveinless-2 were detected in endothelial cells in vitro, using qPCR and immunoblotting.

Differentiation of Human Intestinal Organoids with Endogenous Vascular Endothelial Cells

Given that endothelial cells (ECs) possess organ-specific gene expression, morphology, and function, investigators used bulk RNA-seq and scRNA-seq to interrogate the developing human intestine, lung, and kidney in order to identify organ-enriched EC gene signatures.

Hypoxic Tumor-Derived Exosomal Long Noncoding RNA UCA1 Promotes Angiogenesis via miR-96-5p/AMOTL2 in Pancreatic Cancer

Scientists observed that hypoxic exosomes derived from pancreatic cancer cells promoted cell migration and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells.

Global Transcriptional Downregulation of TREX and Nuclear Trafficking Machinery as Pan-Senescence Phenomena: Evidence from Human Cells and Tissues

A gene set-based approach using 25 different studies showed that the TREX-NCT gene set displayed distinct common downregulated patterns in senescent cells versus its expression in their nonsenescent counterparts regardless of the senescence type.

Assessing Hemorrhage-Critical Values of Cerebral Blood Flow by Modelling Biomechanical Stresses on Capillaries in the Immature Brain

The properties of the endothelial cells and basement membranes employed were selected on the basis of published nanoindentation measurements using atomic force microscopes.

Celastrol Dilates and Counteracts Ethanol-Induced Constriction of Cerebral Arteries

Current data demonstrated that celastrol dilated de-endothelialized, ex vivo pressurized middle cerebral arteries from rats with EC50=45 µM and Emax=100 µM, with MCA diameter reaching a 10% increase over vehicle-containing, time-matched value. A similar vasodilatory efficacy was achieved when celastrol was probed on middle cerebral arteries segments with intact endothelium.

Ruscogenin Attenuates Particulate Matter-Induced Acute Lung Injury in Mice via Protecting Pulmonary Endothelial Barrier and Inhibiting TLR4 Signaling Pathway

The authors investigated whether and how ruscogenin (RUS) exerted therapeutic effects on particular matter-induced acute lung injury. RUS was orally administered to mice prior to or after intratracheal instillation of particulate matter suspension.

    Abstract

Fentanyl Stimulates Tumor Angiogenesis via Activating Multiple Pro-Angiogenic Signaling Pathways

Investigators found that fentanyl at nanomolar concentrations significantly stimulated capillary network formation of human lung tumor-associated endothelial cell (HLT-EC) in a similar manner as VEGF and furthermore that the stimulatory effect of fentanyl was mainly involved in early stage of HLT-EC vascular structure assembly.

It Takes Two to Tango: Endothelial TGFβ/BMP Signaling Crosstalk with Mechanobiology

The authors summarize the current literature on crosstalk mechanisms between biochemical cues elicited by TGFβ/bone morphogenic protein growth factors and mechanical cues, as shear stress or matrix stiffness that collectively orchestrated endothelial function.
