Truncated Actin-Targeting Macrolide Derivative Blocks Cancer Cell Motility and Invasion of Extracellular Matrix

Through structure-activity relationship studies focused on the actin-binding tail region of MycB, scientists identified a potent truncated derivative that inhibits polymerization of G-actin and severs F-actin by binding to actin’s barbed end cleft.

Hormone Autocrination by Vascularized Hydrogel Delivery of Ovary Spheroids to Rescue Ovarian Dysfunctions

The authors highlighted the unprecedented therapeutic potential of an implantable vascularized hydrogel with ovarian spheroids against menopause and suggested that it might be used as an alternative approach to standard hormone therapy.

Super-Resolved Visualization of Single DNA-Based Tension Sensors in Cell Adhesion

Scientists combined cyclic arginine-glycine-aspartatic-ligand-decorated DNA tension sensors with DNA-PAINT super-resolution microscopy to study the mechanical engagement of single integrin receptors and the downstream influence on actin bundling.

Sustained Delivery of MMP-9 siRNA via Thermosensitive Hydrogel Accelerates Diabetic Wound Healing

A hybrid hydrogel dressing was developed for localized and sustained delivery of matrix metalloproteinase 9 small interfering RNA (MMP-9 siRNA).

Permissive Effect of GSK3β on Profibrogenic Plasticity of Renal Tubular Cells in Progressive Chronic Kidney Disease

In vitro, TGF-β1 treatment augmented glycogen synthase kinase 3β expression in tubular epithelial cells, concomitant with dedifferentiation, cell cycle arrest at G2/M phase, excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix, and overproduction of profibrotic cytokines like PAI-1 and CTGF.

Internal Modulation of Proteolysis in Vascular Extracellular Matrix Remodeling: Role of Adam Metallopeptidase with Thrombospondin Type 1 Motif 5 in the Development of Intracranial Aneurysm Rupture

Researchers indicated that ADAM metallopeptidase with thrombospondin type 1 motif 5 (ADAMTS-5) was downregulated in human intracranial aneurysm (IA), and compensatory ADAMTS-5 administration inhibited IA development and rupture with potentially important implications for treating this cerebrovascular disease.

Celastrol Inhibit the Proliferation, Invasion and Migration of Human Cervical Hela Cancer Cells through down‐Regulation of Mmp‐2 and Mmp‐9

Scientists analyzed the celastrol mediated inhibition of proliferation, invasion and migration of human cervical HeLa cancer cells through down‐regulation of matrix metalloproteinase‐2 (MMP‐2) and MMP‐9.

MiR-206 Promotes Extracellular Matrix Accumulation and Relieves Infantile Hemangioma through Targeted Inhibition of DNMT3A

Researchers found that miR-206 could promote ECM accumulation through targeted inhibition of DNA Methyltransferase 3A (DNMT3A), inhibiting the malignant development of hemangioma endothelial cells and relieving infantile hemangioma.

Specific MicroRNAs Found in Extracellular Matrix Vesicles Regulate Proliferation and Differentiation in Growth Plate Chondrocytes

Investigators selected a subset of enriched microRNAs and transfected synthetic mimics back into resting zone and growth zone cells. Transfecting growth plate chondrocytes with select microRNA produced a broad range of phenotypic responses indicating that matrix vesicle-based microRNAs were involved in the regulation of these cells.
