Heterogeneity of Hepatic Stellate Cells in a Mouse Model of Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH)

Researchers examined the single cell expression profiles of hepatic stellate cells purified from the normal livers of foz/foz mice on a chow diet, in NASH with fibrosis of foz/foz mice on a Western diet, and in livers during regression of non‐alcoholic steatohepatitis after switching back to a chow diet.

ECT2 Overexpression Promotes the Polarization of Tumor-Associated Macrophages in Hepatocellular Carcinoma via the ECT2/PLK1/PTEN Pathway

In vitro experiments were used to investigate the underlying mechanism and function of epithelial cell transforming 2 (ECT2), and the results were confirmed through in vivo experiments.

BCAT1 Decreases the Sensitivity of Cancer Cells to Cisplatin by Regulating mTOR-Mediated Autophagy via Branched-Chain Amino Acid Metabolism

Investigators revealed that cisplatin triggered autophagy in cancer cells, with an increase in BCAT1 expression. The cisplatin-induced up-regulation of BCAT1 decreased the cisplatin sensitivity by regulating autophagy through the mTOR signaling pathway.

Contributions of Biliary Epithelial Cells to Hepatocyte Homeostasis and Regeneration in Zebrafish

Scientists established a sensitive lineage tracing system specific for the detection of biliary epithelial cells (BEC)-derived hepatocytes. The BEC-to-hepatocyte transdifferentiation occurred and became minor contributors to hepatocyte homeostasis in a portion of adult individuals.

SNHG1 Knockdown Upregulates miR-376a and Downregulates FOXK1/Snail Axis to Prevent Tumor Growth and Metastasis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The interactions between small nucleolar RNA host gene 1 (SNHG1) and miR-376, and between miR-376 and forkhead box protein K1 (FOXK1) were predicted and confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter gene and RNA immunoprecipitation assays.

Glypican-3 Targeted Delivery of 89Zr and 90Y as a Theranostic Radionuclide Platform for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The authors evaluated the efficacy of a theranostic platform using a glypican-3 (GPC3)-targeting antibody αGPC3 conjugated to zirconium-89 (89Zr) and yttrium-90 (90Y) to identify, treat, and assess treatment response in a murine model of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Microvesicles Mediate Sorafenib Resistance in Liver Cancer Cells through Attenuating p53 and Enhancing FOXM1 Expression

Investigators report the effects of liver cancer cell-secreted microvesicles on sorafenib resistance in liver cancer cells HepG2 and Huh7 both in vitro and in vivo.

Gene Expression Profiles of Liver Cancer Cell Lines Reveal Two Hepatocyte-Like and Fibroblast-Like Clusters

The authors investigated the characteristics of liver cancer cell lines by analyzing the gene expression data available in the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia. Unsupervised clustering analysis of 28 liver cancer cell lines yielded two main clusters.
