    Limited
Proliferation Capacity of Aortic Intima Resident Macrophages Requires Monocyte Recruitment for Atherosclerotic Plaque Progression

Using murine lineage-tracing models and gene expression profiling, scientists revealed that myeloid cells present in the intima of the aortic arch were not dendritc cells but instead specialized aortic intima resident macrophages that depended upon colony-stimulating factor 1 and are sustained by local proliferation.

    Maintenance
DNA Methylation Is Essential for Regulatory T Cell Development and Stability of Suppressive Function

Researchers demonstrated that the epigenetic regulator Uhrf1 was essential for maintenance of methyl-DNA marks that stabilized Treg cellular identity by repressing effector T cell transcriptional programs.

Roles of Neutrophils in Metastatic Colonization Are Governed by the Host NK Cell Status

The authors demonstrated that the metastasis-modulating effects of neutrophils were dictated by the status of host NK cells.

Constrains Synchronous and Metachronous Metastasis by Promoting Anti-Tumor Macrophages

Scientists evaluated the pharmacological potential of glutamine synthetase (GS) inhibitors in targeting metastasis, identifying glufosinate as a specific human GS inhibitor.

    Early Programming of CD8+
T Cell Response by the Orphan Nuclear Receptor NR4A3

Investigators showed that NR4A3-deficient murine CD8+ T cells differentiated preferentially into memory precursor and central memory cells, but also produced more cytokines.

Glia Modulate Macrophage Phenotype and Visceral Sensitivity following Inflammation

Scientists manipulated a major mechanism of glial intercellular communication that required connexin-43 and assessed the effects on acute and chronic inflammation, visceral hypersensitivity, and immune responses.

    Kidney GATA3+
Regulatory T Cells Play Roles in the Convalescence Stage after Antibody-Mediated Renal Injury

In an experimental mouse model of crescentic glomerulonephritis induced by an anti-glomerular basement membrane antibody, Tregs started to accumulate in the kidney on day ten of disease onset and remained at high levels during the late stage, which correlated with stable disease control.
