    TOP STORY

Foxo Proteins Cooperatively Control the Differentiation of Foxp3+ Regulatory T Cells
Here researchers show that mice with T cell-specific deletion of both the Foxo1 and Foxo3 transcription factors developed a fatal multifocal inflammatory disorder due in part to regulatory T cell defects. [Nat Immunol]

CURRENT PUBLICATIONS (Ranked by Impact Factor of the Journal)

Transforming Growth Factor-Beta Signaling Curbs Thymic Negative Selection Promoting Regulatory T Cell Development
Here researchers showed that transforming growth factor-beta signaling protected naturally occurring regulatory T cells and antigen-stimulated conventional T cells from apoptosis. [Immunity]

Epigenetic Instability of Cytokine and Transcription Factor Gene Loci Underlies Plasticity of the T Helper 17 Cell Lineage
Researchers identified epigenetic modifications across the clustered Il17a and Il17f and the Ifng loci before and after differential IL-12 or TGF-beta cytokine signaling, which induce divergent fates of Th17 cell precursors. [Immunity]

Antibodies Specific for a Segment of Human Membrane IgE Deplete IgE-Producing B Cells in Humanized Mice
Here, researchers have developed a strategy to disrupt IgE production by generating monoclonal antibodies that target a segment of membrane IgE on human IgE-switched B cells that is not present in serum IgE. [J Clin Invest]

The Route of Priming Influences the Ability of Respiratory Virus-Specific Memory CD8+ T Cells to be Activated by Residual Antigen
Researchers used mouse models of influenza and parainfluenza virus infection to show that intranasally (i.n.) primed memory CD8+ T cells possess a unique ability to be reactivated by residual antigen in the mediastinal lymph nodes compared with intraperitoneally primed CD8+ T cells, resulting in the preferential recruitment of i.n.-primed memory CD8+ T cells to the lung airways. [J Exp Med]

Complement Drives Th17 Cell Differentiation and Triggers Autoimmune Arthritis
Collectively, the data suggest that complement activation by exogenous or endogenous stimulation can initiate Th17 cell differentiation and expansion in certain autoimmune diseases and presumably in microbial infections. [J Exp Med]

Systemic Autoimmunity and Defective Fas Ligand Secretion in the Absence of the Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome Protein
Researchers find that WAS protein-deficient mice produce autoantibodies and develop proliferative glomerulonephritis with immune complex deposition as they age. [Blood]

Differentiation of Type 1 T Regulatory Cells by Tolerogenic DC-10 Requires the IL-10-Dependent ILT4/HLA-G Pathway
Researchers identified and characterized a subset of IL-10-producing human DC, termed DC-10, which are present in vivo and can be induced in vitro in the presence of IL-10. [Blood]

Induction of Regulatory T Cells Decreases Adipose Inflammation and Alleviates Insulin Resistance in Ob/Ob Mice
    Researchers induced TGF-beta-dependent CD4+ latency-associated peptide-positive regulatory T cells by oral administration of anti-CD3 antibody plus beta-glucosylceramide. [Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A]

The Death Effector Domain Protein PEA-15 Negatively Regulates T Cell Receptor Signaling
To determine the function of PEA-15 in vivo, researchers used C57BL/6 mice in which the PEA-15 coding region was deleted. [FASEB J]

Human Tumor Antigen-Specific Helper and Regulatory T Cells Share Common Epitope Specificity but Exhibit Distinct T Cell Repertoire
In this study, researchers show that two immunodominant epitopes derived from the tumor antigens NY-ESO-1 and TRAG-3 stimulate both CD4+ T helper cells and regulatory T cells. [J Immunol]
