CURRENT PUBLICATIONS (Ranked by Impact Factor of the Journal)

The Structural Basis for Autonomous Dimerization of the Pre-T Cell Antigen Receptor
The pre-T-cell antigen receptor (pre-TCR) comprises an invariant alpha-chain (pre-Talpha) that pairs with any TCR beta-chain (TCRbeta) following successful TCR beta-gene rearrangement. The unusual dual-chaperone-like sensing function of pre-Talpha represents a unique mechanism in nature whereby developmental quality control regulates the expression and signalling of an integral membrane receptor complex. [ Nature]

Mcl-1 is Essential for Germinal Center Formation and B Cell Memory
Here, researchers investigated the consequences of deleting genes encoding the anti-apoptotic molecules Mcl1 and Bcl2l1 from B cells using an inducible system synchronized with expression of activation-induced cytidine deaminase following immunization. [Science]

Structures of the CXCR4 Chemokine G Protein-Coupled Receptor With Small-Molecule and Cyclic Peptide Antagonists
Here, researchers report five independent crystal structures of CXCR4 bound to an antagonist small molecule IT1t and a cyclic peptide CVX15 at 2.5 to 3.2 angstrom resolution. [Science]

IL-12 Initiates Tumor Rejection via Lymphoid Tissue-Inducer Cells Bearing the Natural Cytotoxicity Receptor NKp46
By systematic analysis of the IL-12-induced immune response to subcutaneous melanoma (B16), researchers found that tumor suppression was mediated independently of T lymphocytes or natural killer cells. [Nat Immunol]

IL-37 is a Fundamental Inhibitor of Innate Immunity
Expression of IL-37 in macrophages or epithelial cells almost completely suppressed production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, whereas the abundance of these cytokines increased with silencing of endogenous IL-37 in human blood cells. [Nat Immunol]

The microRNA miR-182 Is Induced by IL-2 and Promotes Clonal Expansion of Activated Helper T Lymphocytes
Here, researchers show that in the late phase of expansion, Foxo1 was no longer post-translationally regulated but was inhibited post-transcriptionally by the interleukin 2 (IL-2)-induced microRNA miR-182. [Nat Immunol]

Early B Cell Factor 2 Regulates Hematopoietic Stem Cell Homeostasis in a Cell-Nonautonomous Manner
Here, researchers examine the role of early B cell factor 2 (Ebf2), a transcription factor expressed in a subset of immature osteoblastic cells. Ebf2-/- mice show decreased frequencies of hematopoietic stem cells and lineage-committed progenitors. [Cell Stem Cell]

Intravital Imaging Reveals Distinct Dynamics for Natural Killer and CD8+ T Cells during Tumor Regression
To address how NKG2D engagement affects intratumoral natural killer cell dynamics, researchers performed intravital microscopy in a Rae-1beta-expressing solid tumor. [Immunity]

Early Lymphocyte Recovery Following Intensive Timed Sequential Chemotherapy for Acute Myelogenous Leukemia: Peripheral Oligoclonal Expansion of Regulatory T Cells
To test the hypothesis that lymphocyte recovery mirrors ontogeny, researchers characterized early lymphocyte recovery and attendant cytokine profiles in twenty consecutive patients undergoing induction timed sequential chemotherapy for newly diagnosed acute myelogenous leukemia. [Blood]

A Nonredundant Role for IL-21 Receptor Signaling in Plasma Cell Differentiation and Protective Type 2 Immunity Against Gastrointestinal Helminth Infection
In the present study, researchers identify IL-21R signaling as a critical factor in driving pathogen-specific plasma cell differentiation and protective immunity against H. polygyrus in mice. [J Immunol]
