| PUBLICATIONS (Ranked by Impact Factor of the Journal) | AID-Driven Deletion Causes Immunoglobulin Heavy Chain “Locus Suicide Recombination” in B Cells Remodeling of immunoglobulin genes by activation-induced deaminase (AID) is required for affinity maturation and class switch recombination in mature B lymphocytes. In the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus, these processes are predominantly controlled by the 3′ cis-regulatory region. This study revealed that this region is transcribed and undergoes AID-mediated mutation and recombination around phylogenetically conserved switch-like DNA repeats. [Science] Abstract TRIM28 Prevents Autoinflammatory T Cell Development In Vivo By studying mice with conditional T cell-specific deletion of TRIM28, researchers found that TRIM28 was phosphorylated after stimulation via the T cell antigen receptor and was involved in the global regulation of CD4+ T cells. [Nat Immunol] Abstract TGF-β and Retinoic Acid Induce the MicroRNA miR-10a, which Targets Bcl-6 and Constrains the Plasticity of Helper T Cells Researchers report that naturally occurring regulatory T cells (Treg cells) had high expression of the microRNA miR-10a and that miR-10a was induced by retinoic acid and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in inducible Treg cells. [Nat Immunol] Abstract Human Epidermal Langerhans Cells Maintain Immune Homeostasis in Skin by Activating Skin Resident Regulatory T Cells Using only autologous human tissues, researchers report that both in vitro and in vivo, resting epidermal Langerhan cells selectively and specifically induced the activation and proliferation of skin resident regulatory T cells, a minor subset of skin resident memory T cells. [Immunity] Abstract | Press Release Adaptor Protein-3 in Dendritic Cells Facilitates Phagosomal Toll-Like Receptor Signaling and Antigen Presentation to CD4+ T Cells The authors showed that dendritic cells from adaptor protein-3-deficient pearl mice elicited impaired CD4+ T cell activation and Th1 effector cell function to particulate antigen in vitro and to recombinant Listeria monocytogenes infection in vivo. [Immunity] Abstract Resident CD141 (BDCA3)+ Dendritic Cells in Human Skin Produce IL-10 and Induce Regulatory T Cells that Suppress Skin Inflammation Researchers identified an immunoregulatory tissue-resident dendritic cell in the dermis of human skin that is characterized by surface expression of CD141, CD14, and constitutive IL-10 secretion. [J Exp Med] Abstract Cytotoxic Immunological Synapses Do Not Restrict the Action of Interferon-γ to Antigenic Target Cells Researchers developed a live-cell imaging system to compare the responses of target cells and nonantigenic bystanders to IFN-γ secreted by CD8+, antigen-specific, cytotoxic T cells. [Proc Natl Acad Sci USA] Abstract | Press Release Altered Regulation of Toll-Like Receptor Responses Impairs Antibacterial Immunity in the Allergic Lung Using the intranasal house-dust mite-sensitized mouse model of allergic airway disease, researchers showed an imbalance in novel antibacterial pathways that culminates in a reduction in neutrophil recruitment to the airspaces and leads to bacterial invasion and dissemination. [Mucosal Immunol] Abstract Decade-Long Safety and Function of Retroviral-Modified Chimeric Antigen Receptor T Cells Researchers report long-term results from three clinical trials to evaluate gammaretroviral vector-engineered T cells for HIV.
