    Investigators showed that nonspecific bystander inflammation conditions naive CD4+ T cells for enhanced peripheral Foxp3 induction and reduced effector differentiation.     TRAIL-Coated Leukocytes that Prevent the Bloodborne Metastasis of Prostate Cancer
    Scientists demonstrated an approach using nanoscale liposomes conjugated with E-selectin adhesion protein and Apo2L/TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand) apoptosis ligand that attach to the surface of leukocytes and rapidly clear viable cancer cells from circulating blood in the living mouse.     New Study to Investigate How Good Antibodies Go Bad
    New research, led by University at Buffalo oral biology researcher Jill Kramer, aims to re-examine whether IgM is pathogenic, or capable of causing disease. The research, “Analysis of the Source and Significance of IgM in Sjögren’s syndrome,” is one of several studies funded through a $16 million Clinical and Translational Science Award provided to UB from the National Institutes of Health.     Researcher Gets Grant to Study How Immune System Can Prevent Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
    A Georgia State University researcher has received a private grant of nearly $300,000 to investigate how the immune system can prevent inflammatory bowel disease. Benoit Chassaing, assistant professor in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences, will study how the adaptive immune system, which protects the body against pathogens, can control intestinal bacteria to prevent inflammation in the gut.
