Maf Promotes Osteoblast Differentiation in Mice by Mediating the Age-Related Switch in Mesenchymal Cell Differentiation
Here, researchers show an age-related decrease in the expression of Maf in mouse mesenchymal cells, which regulated mesenchymal cell bifurcation into osteoblasts and adipocytes by cooperating with the osteogenic transcription factor Runx2 and inhibiting the expression of the adipogenic transcription factor Pparg. Implantation of various types of cells into the heart has been reported to be effective for heart failure, however, it is unknown what kinds of cells are most suitable for myocardial repair. Selective Isolation and Differentiation of a Stromal Population of Human Embryonic Stem Cells with Osteogenic Potential
The derivation of osteogenic cells from human embryonic stem cells (hESC) has been hampered by the absence of easy and reproducible protocols. hESC grown in feeder-free conditions, often show a sub population of fibroblast-like, stromal cells growing between the colonies.
