USP1 Deubiquitinates ID Proteins to Preserve a Mesenchymal Stem Cell Program in Osteosarcoma
Researchers show that the deubiquitinating enzyme USP1 promotes ID protein stability and stem cell-like characteristics in osteosarcoma. [Cell] Abstract

PUBLICATIONS (Ranked by Impact Factor of the Journal)

The Effect of Micro and Nanotopography on Endocytosis in Drug and Gene Delivery Systems
The results showed increased internalization of fluorescently labeled dextran by human mesenchymal stem cells and monkey kidney fibroblasts (COS7) when they were cultured on micro- and nanopillars. [Biomaterials] Abstract

Gadd45a Plays an Essential Role in Active DNA Demethylation during Terminal Osteogenic Differentiation of Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells
Researchers provide evidence that active DNA demethylation does occur during terminal specification of stem cells in an adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell-derived osteogenic differentiation model. [J Biol Chem] Abstract

Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Secreted Soluble Signaling Molecules Potentiate Tumor Growth
In the present study, researchers investigate whether the physical presence or the continuous presence of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is required for enhanced tumor growth, and they found that pretreatment of tumor cells SGC-7901 with a single dose of hMSC-conditioned medium in vitro is sufficient to potentiate tumor growth comparable to the effect of MSC co-injection in vivo in mouse xenograft models. [Cell Cycle] Abstract

The Influence of Construct Scale on the Composition and Functional Properties of Cartilaginous Tissues Engineered Using Bone-Marrow Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells
The objective of this study was to determine how the composition and mechanical properties of cartilaginous tissues engineered using bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells depend on the scale of the construct. [Tissue Eng Part A] Abstract

Treatment Outcomes of Alginate-Embedded Allogenic Mesenchymal Stem Cells Versus Autologous Chondrocytes for the Repair of Focal Articular Cartilage Defects in a Rabbit Model
Treatment with allogenic undifferentiated mesenchymal stem cells has similar effectiveness as autologous chondrocyte treatment for repair of focal cartilage defects. Both treatments resulted in superior tissue regeneration compared with untreated defects. [Am J Sports Med] Abstract

MicroRNA-34a Modulates Genes Involved in Cellular Motility and Oxidative Phosphorylation in Neural Precursors Derived from Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells
The data suggest a critical role of miRNAs in mesenchymal stem cell neuronal differentiation, and miR-34a contributes in neuronal precursor motility, which may be crucial for stem cells to home to the target sites they should be. [BMC Med Genomics] Abstract

Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Conditioned Medium Facilitates Angiogenesis and Fracture Healing in Diabetic Rats
Researchers demonstrate in this report that mesenchymal stem cells-derived conditioned medium delivered in gelatin sponges stimulates angiogenesis and promotes fracture healing in a diabetic rat model. [J Tissue Eng Regen Med] Abstract

Human Peripheral Blood Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Demonstrate Similar Characteristics and Chondrogenic Differentiation Potential to Bone Marrow Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells
The objectives of this study are to isolate and characterize mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from peripheral blood and, compare their chondrogenic potential to MSC derived from bone marrow. [J Orthop Res] Abstract

Isolation and Basic Characterization of Human Term Amnion and Chorion Mesenchymal Stromal Cells
The results indicate that mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) can be easily isolated from the human term placenta. The human amniotic and chorion MSC maintained a marker profile similar to the mesenchymal progenitors and could be used for studies as an alternative source of MSC for further application in cellular therapy. [Cytotherapy] Abstract

Modification of the Alkaline Comet Assay with Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells
For monitoring of in vitro senescence of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) researchers assessed the integrity of DNA by means of the alkaline comet assay. [Cell Biol Int] Abstract
