Vimentin Coordinates Protein Turnover at the Aggresome during Neural Stem Cell Quiescence Exit

Scientists demonstrated that adult neural stem cells utilized aggresomes to recover from disrupted proteostasis and described a novel function for the intermediate filament vimentin in proteostasis as a spatial coordinator of proteasomes to the aggresome. Researchers showed that the firing activity of anorexigenic POMC neurons located in the hypothalamus was increased after a standard meal. The Complement Regulator Susd4 Influences Nervous-System Function and Neuronal Morphology in Mice

Susd4 knockout brain had abnormal “hairy” basket cells surrounding Purkinje neurons within the cerebellum and significantly reduced dendritic spine density in hippocampal pyramidal neurons.
