    Human bone marrow-derived clonal mesenchymal stem cells (hcMSCs) reduced inflammation and damage to pancreatic tissue in a rat model of acute pancreatitis; they reduced levels of cytokines and induced numbers of Foxp3+ regulatory T cells. hcMSCs might be developed as a cell therapy for pancreatitis.     Researchers show that downregulation of the class II phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) isoform PI3K-C2alpha specifically impairs insulin granule exocytosis in rat insulinoma cells without affecting insulin content, the number of insulin granules at the plasma membrane or the expression levels of key proteins involved in insulin secretion.     The Receptor for Advanced Glycation End-products (RAGE) Protects Pancreatic Tumor Cells Against Oxidative Injury
    Researchers investigated the effect of oxidative stress on activation of the Receptor for Advanced Glycation Endproducts (RAGE) and subsequent protection against H2O2-induced pancreatic tumor cell damage. They found that exposure of pancreatic tumor cells to H2O2 provoked a nuclear factor kappa B-dependent increase in RAGE expression. [Antioxid Redox Signal]
     
    NADPH Oxidase Activation in Pancreatic Cancer Cells Is Mediated Through Akt Dependent Up-Regulation of p22phox
