    TOP STORY

Immune-Evasive Human Islet-Like Organoids Ameliorate Diabetes

Scientists generated human islet-like organoids from induced pluripotent stem cells and showed that non-canonical WNT4 signaling drove the metabolic maturation necessary for robust ex vivo glucose-stimulated insulin secretion.

Zonation of Pancreatic Acinar Cells in Diabetic Mice

The authors combined single-molecule transcript imaging in the intact pancreas and transcriptomics to identify spatial heterogeneity of acinar cell gene expression. They found that peri-islet acinar cells exhibited a distinct molecular signature in db/db diabetic mice that included upregulation of trypsin family genes and elevated mTOR activity.

Chebulic Acid Prevents Methylglyoxal-Induced Mitochondrial Dysfunction in INS-1 Pancreatic β-Cells

Researchers indicated that chebulic acid could be employed as a therapeutic agent in diabetes due to its ability to prevent methyl glyoxal-induced development of insulin sensitivity and oxidative stress-induced dysfunction of β-cells.

Epigenetic Silencing of the Ubiquitin Ligase Subunit FBXL7 Impairs C-Src Degradation and Promotes Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition and Metastasis

Investigators implicated FBXL7 as a metastasis-suppressor gene and suggested therapeutic strategies to counteract metastatic dissemination of pancreatic and prostatic cancer cells.

    Abstract

Use of Ratiometrically Designed Nanocarrier Targeting CDK4/6 and Autophagy Pathways for Effective Pancreatic Cancer Treatment

Utilizing remote loading to co-encapsulate CDK4/6 inhibitor palbociclib and an autophagy inhibitor hydroxychloroquine, scientists demonstrated a ratiometrically designed mesoporous silica nanoformulation with synergistic efficacy in subcutaneous and orthotopic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma mouse models.

The Roles of MAGEA6 Variants in Pancreatic Cancer Development and Their Potential Impact on Cancer Immunotherapy

Researchers provided mechanistic insight into the divergent roles of MAGEA6 during pancreatic cancer initiation and progression, and could inform cancer immunotherapeutic strategies for targeting MAGEA antigens.

    Abstract

Mint3 Depletion Restricts Tumor Malignancy of Pancreatic Cancer Cells by Decreasing SKP2 Expression via HIF-1

Investigators found that HIF-1 was accumulated in normoxic or moderate hypoxic areas of pancreatic cancer xenografts in vivo and is active even during normoxia in pancreatic cancer cells in vitro.

Synergistic Effects of Pulsed Focused Ultrasound and a Doxorubicin-Loaded Microparticle–Microbubble Complex in a Pancreatic Cancer Xenograft Mouse Model

The synergistic effects of a doxorubicin-loaded microparticle–microbubble complex and focused ultrasound with a short duty cycle were evaluated in a pancreatic cancer xenograft model established by inoculating immunodeficient mice with CFPAC-1 cells.

Hyperthermal Paclitaxel-Bound Albumin Nanoparticles Co-Loaded with Indocyanine Green and Hyaluronidase for Treating Pancreatic Cancers

Scientists fabricated albumin nanoparticles loaded with paclitaxel, indocyanine green and hyaluronidase that breaks down hyaluronan, a major component of the extracellulr matrix in tumors.
