Haploinsufficiency for CYP8B1 Associates with Increased Insulin Sensitivity in Humans

Researchers determined if reduced CYP8B1 activity improved insulin sensitivity. By utilizing functional assays and sequencing CYP8B1 in individuals without diabetes, they were able to explore whether loss-of-function mutations in human muscle cells increased skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity, contributing to whole-body insulin sensitization.
