Scientists showed that hiPSCs and hiPSC-derived ectodermal, mesodermal, and endodermal cells were susceptible to Influenza A virus (IAV) infection. These cell types stained positive for α2,6-linked sialic acid, the receptor for IAV infection expressed on the cell surface.
