Researchers showed that transactive response (TAR) DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43), mutations in which constitute a major risk factor for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, inhibited long interspersed nuclear element-1 (L1) retrotransposition in mESCs and preimplantation embryos.
