TRPM7 promoted skin keratinocyte senescence by triggering intracellular calcium transfer from the endoplasmic reticulum to the mitochondria; accumulation of mitochondrial calcium then induced a drop in mitochondrial membrane potential and reactive oxygen species production, leading to subsequent nuclear enlargement and DNA damage.
