Scientists used single-cell analyses to interrogate developing self-formed, ectodermal, autonomous multi-zones at key junctures throughout their formation as proxies of human eye development, in order to reveal the developmental trajectories of individual cell populations as they lose pluripotency and commit to specific ocular lineages.
