Scientists introduced a modular hydrogel system featuring a small peptide sequence that was selectively cleaved by the coagulation factor FXa. In a cell culture environment, where active FXa was absent, the hydrogel remained stable, providing a conducive matrix for the growth of tissue structures or organoid.
