Changes in Ratio of microRNA-29 to microRNA-199 Expression Coordinate Mesenchymal Stem Cell Induced Repair of Bleomycin-Induced Pulmonary Injury in Aged Mice

Scientists investigated mechanisms driving the anti-fibrotic effects of infusion of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells to prevent or repair bleomycin-induced lung injury. There was a decrease in indices of pulmonary fibrosis including collagen content after infusion 12 days post bleomycin treatment compared to bleomycin alone.
