The authors utilized a surgical denervation protocol to perform splenic sympathetic denervation, which significantly attenuates brain injury following stroke. Ischemic injury induces endothelial cell-specific expression of CCL19, which chemoattracts stroke-associated T cells into the brain parenchyma.
