The authors discovered that type I gamma phosphatidylinositol phosphate kinase (PIPKIγ) overexpression significantly boosts nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ), a principal mechanism for repairing DNA double-strand breaks. This enhancement of NHEJ confers increased radioresistance in TNBC.
