Using single-cell sequencing of human BRCA1 mutant breast cancers and RNA sequencing of BRCA1-deficient normal mammary cells, scientists revealed that replication stress was a feature of luminal progenitor cells and a driving factor during BRCA1-associated tumorigenesis.
