Overexpression of Gjb4 Impairs Cell Proliferation and Insulin Secretion in Primary Islet Cells

Overexpression of gap junction beta 4 protein in primary islet cells significantly inhibited the proliferation by 47%, reduced insulin secretion of primary islets (46%) and INS-1 cells (51%) and enhanced the rate of apoptosis by 63% in INS-1 cells.

Multiplexing DNA Methylation Markers to Detect Circulating Cell-Free DNA Derived from Human Pancreatic Beta-Cells

VentX Expression in Tumor Associated Macrophages Promotes Phagocytosis and Immunity against Pancreatic Cancers

Investigators found that the expression of homeobox protein VentX, a master regulator of macrophage plasticity, is significantly decreased in the ancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA)-tumor associated macrophages (TAMs). They demonstrated that VentX was required for phagocytosis and that restoration of VentX expression in PDA-TAMs promoted phagocytosis through regulating the signaling cascades involved in the process.

Altered RNA Splicing by Mutant p53 Activates Oncogenic RAS Signaling in Pancreatic Cancer
