Asiatic Acid Ameliorates Acute Hepatic Injury by Reducing Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress and Triggering Hepatocyte Autophagy

Researchers investigated the effects and underlying mechanisms of Asiatic acid from Potentilla chinensis on acute liver injury (ALI). The model of ALI in mice was induced by administration with Lipopolysaccharide/D-Galactosamine.

MicroRNA200a Enhances Antitumor Effects in Combination with Doxorubicin in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Scientists investigated the effects of specific microRNA-200a (miR-200a) on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumor cell growth and effect of doxorubicin-mediated cytotoxicity. Their results showed miR-200a to be downregulated in human HCC and HCC tumor cell lines.

In Vitro Differentiated Human Stem Cell-Derived Neurons Reproduce Synaptic Synchronicity Arising during Neurodevelopment

Scientists generated human iPSC-derived neurons exhibiting spontaneous oscillatory activity after cultivation of up to six months, which resembled early oscillations observed in rodent neurons. This behavior was found in neurons generated using a more “native” embryoid body protocol, in contrast to a “fast” protocol based on NGN2 overexpression.

BRPF3-HUWE1-Mediated Regulation of MYST2 Is Required for Differentiation and Cell-Cycle Progression in Embryonic Stem Cells

Researchers provided novel insights into understanding the functions of Brpf3 in proper differentiation as well as cell-cycle progression of ESCs via regulation of Myst2 stability by obstructing Huwe1-mediated ubiquitination.

Excessive Polyamine Generation in Keratinocytes Promotes Self-RNA Sensing by Dendritic Cells in Psoriasis

The authors suggested that urea cycle hyperreactivity and excessive polyamine generation in psoriatic keratinocytes promoted self-RNA sensation and highlighted protein phosphatase 6 deregulation in keratinocytes as a pivotal event that amplified the inflammatory circuits in psoriasis.

ADP Receptor P2y12 Prevents Excessive Primitive Hematopoiesis in Zebrafish by Inhibiting Gata1

By using mass spectrometry combined with RNA sequencing, scientists showed that absence of P2y12 induced excessive erythropoiesis, evidenced by significantly increased expression of mature erythrocytes marker α-globin, β-globin.

Targeting Lung Cancer Stem Cells Using Combination of Tel and Docetaxel Liposomes in 3D Cultures and Tumor Xenografts

Scientists demonstrated for the first time the efficacy of Docetaxel liposomes in combination with telmisartan in 3D cultures of H460 cells by using polysaccharide-based hydrogels and also in xenograft model of Docetaxel resistant H460 derived CD133+ lung tumors.

Allogeneic Cord Blood Transfusions Prevent Fetal Haemoglobin Depletion in Preterm Neonates. Results of the CB-TrIP Study

Investigators monitored fetal haemoglobin levels in 25 preterm neonates until 36 weeks of post‐menstrual age; patients received repeated red blood cell (RBC) units from allogeneic cord blood (cord‐RBCs) or from adult donors, depending on whether cord‐RBCs were available.
