Exosomal HMGA2 Protein from EBV-Positive NPC Cells Destroys Vascular Endothelial Barriers and Induces Endothelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition to Promote Metastasis

Investigators showed that exosomes from Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells, but not exosomes from EBV-negative NPC cells, destroyed endothelial cell tight junction proteins, which are natural barriers against metastasis, and promoted endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition in endothelial cells.
