Using a comprehensive combination of genetically modified fish, electrophysiology, and gene expression analysis, scientists demonstrated that zebra fish cardiac myocytes and vascular smooth muscle expressed functional ATP-sensitive potassium channels channels of similar subunit composition, structure, and metabolic sensitivity to their mammalian counterparts.
