hese%20results%20improve%20the%20HIE%20culture%20system%20for%20HuNoV%20replication.%20Use%20of%20HIEs%20by%20several%20laboratories%20worldwide%20to%20study%20the%20molecular%20mechanisms%20that%20regulate%20HuNoV%20replication%20confirms%20the%20usefulness%20of%20this%20culture%20system%2C%20and%20our%20optimized%20methods%20for%20virus%20replication%20will%20advance%20the%20development%20of%20effective%20therapies%20and%20methods%20for%20virus%20control.%5CnIMPORTANCE%20Human%20noroviruses%20%28HuNoVs%29%20are%20highly%20contagious%20and%20cause%20acute%20and%20sporadic%20diarrheal%20illness%20in%20all%20age%20groups.%20In%20addition%2C%20chronic%20infections%20occur%20in%20immunocompromised%20cancer%20and%20transplant%20patients.%20These%20viruses%20are%20antigenically%20and%20genetically%20diverse%2C%20and%20there%20are%20strain-specific%20differences%20in%20binding%20to%20cellular%20attachment%20factors.%20In%20addition%2C%20new%20discoveries%20are%20being%20made%20on%20strain-specific%20differences%20in%20virus%20entry%20and%20replication%20and%20the%20epithelial%20cell%20response%20to%20infection%20in%20human%20intestinal%20enteroids.%20Human%20intestinal%20enteroids%20are%20a%20biologically%20relevant%20model%20to%20study%20HuNoVs%3B%20however%2C%20not%20all%20strains%20can%20be%20cultivated%20at%20this%20time.%20A%20complete%20understanding%20of%20HuNoV%20biology%20thus%20requires%20cultivation%20conditions%20that%20will%20allow%20the%20replication%20of%20multiple%20strains.%20We%20report%20optimization%20of%20HuNoV%20cultivation%20in%20human%20intestinal%20enteroid%20cultures%20to%20increase%20the%20numbers%20of%20cultivatable%20strains%20and%20the%20magnitude%20of%20replication%2C%20which%20is%20critical%20for%20testing%20antivirals%2C%20neutralizing%20antibodies%2C%20and%20methods%20of%20virus%20inactivation.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222021%5C%2F02%5C%2F24%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1128%5C%2FmSphere.01136-20%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%222379-5042%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fmsphere.asm.org%5C%2Fcontent%5C%2F6%5C%2F1%5C%2Fe01136-20%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222021-01-29T19%3A15%3A57Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
