Cu00e0%22%7D%5D%2C%22abstractNote%22%3A%22Resident%20memory%20T%20cells%20%28TRM%29%20positioned%20within%20the%20respiratory%20tract%20are%20probably%20required%20to%20limit%20SARS-CoV-2%20spread%20and%20COVID-19.%20Importantly%2C%20TRM%20are%20mostly%20non-recirculating%2C%20which%20reduces%20the%20window%20of%20opportunity%20to%20examine%20these%20cells%20in%20the%20blood%20as%20they%20move%20to%20the%20lung%20parenchyma.%20Here%2C%20we%20identify%20circulating%20virus-specific%20T%20cell%20responses%20during%20acute%20infection%20with%20functional%2C%20migratory%20and%20apoptotic%20patterns%20modulated%20by%20viral%20proteins%20and%20associated%20with%20clinical%20outcome.%20Disease%20severity%20is%20associated%20predominantly%20with%20IFN%5Cu03b3%20and%20IL-4%20responses%2C%20increased%20responses%20against%20S%20peptides%20and%20apoptosis%2C%20whereas%20non-hospitalized%20patients%20have%20increased%20IL-12p70%20levels%2C%20degranulation%20in%20response%20to%20N%20peptides%20and%20SARS-CoV-2-specific%20CCR7%2B%20T%20cells%20secreting%20IL-10.%20In%20convalescent%20patients%2C%20lung-TRM%20are%20frequently%20detected%20even%2010%20months%20after%20initial%20infection%2C%20in%20which%20contemporaneous%20blood%20does%20not%20reflect%20tissue-resident%20profiles.%20Our%20study%20highlights%20a%20balanced%20anti-inflammatory%20antiviral%20response%20associated%20with%20a%20better%20outcome%20and%20persisting%20TRM%20cells%20as%20important%20for%20future%20protection%20against%20SARS-CoV-2%20infection.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222021-05-21%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1038%5C%2Fs41467-021-23333-3%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%222041-1723%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fwww.nature.com%5C%2Farticles%5C%2Fs41467-021-23333-3%22%2C%22deleted%22%3A1%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%2243ZBJFKZ%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222021-05-21T16%3A46%3A16Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
