Evaluations using human MSCs showed that pure polylactic acid (PLA) scaffolds exerted an osteoconductive effect, whereas PLA/hydroxyapatite scaffolds efficiently induced osteogenic differentiation of MSCs even in the absence of any classical osteogenic stimuli.
