Prior Immunization to an Intracellular Antigen Enhances Subsequent Red Blood Cell Alloimmunization in Mice

Using a murine model of donor red blood cells (RBCs) expressing two distinct alloantigens, the authors demonstrated that immune priming to an intracellular antigen could directly influence alloantibody formation following exposure to a subsequent distinct surface RBC alloantigen.
