Researchers identified cap methyltransferase 1 (CMTR1) as a novel oncogene in colorectal cancer (CRC). Based on The Cancer Genome Atlas database exploration and human tissue microarray analysis, they found that CMTR1 expression was markedly higher in CRC tissues than in adjacent normal tissues.
