-sectional%20cohort%20of%20130%20patients%20with%20varying%20severities%20of%20COVID-19.%20We%20identified%20expansion%20of%20nonclassical%20monocytes%20expressing%20complement%20transcripts%20%28CD16%2BC1QA%5C%2FB%5C%2FC%2B%29%20that%20sequester%20platelets%20and%20were%20predicted%20to%20replenish%20the%20alveolar%20macrophage%20pool%20in%20COVID-19.%20Early%2C%20uncommitted%20CD34%2B%20hematopoietic%20stem%5C%2Fprogenitor%20cells%20were%20primed%20toward%20megakaryopoiesis%2C%20accompanied%20by%20expanded%20megakaryocyte-committed%20progenitors%20and%20increased%20platelet%20activation.%20Clonally%20expanded%20CD8%2B%20T%20cells%20and%20an%20increased%20ratio%20of%20CD8%2B%20effector%20T%20cells%20to%20effector%20memory%20T%20cells%20characterized%20severe%20disease%2C%20while%20circulating%20follicular%20helper%20T%20cells%20accompanied%20mild%20disease.%20We%20observed%20a%20relative%20loss%20of%20IgA2%20in%20symptomatic%20disease%20despite%20an%20overall%20expansion%20of%20plasmablasts%20and%20plasma%20cells.%20Our%20study%20highlights%20the%20coordinated%20immune%20response%20that%20contributes%20to%20COVID-19%20pathogenesis%20and%20reveals%20discrete%20cellular%20components%20that%20can%20be%20targeted%20for%20therapy.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222021-04-20%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1038%5C%2Fs41591-021-01329-2%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%221546-170X%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fwww.nature.com%5C%2Farticles%5C%2Fs41591-021-01329-2%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222021-04-21T18%3A44%3A56Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
