High-Dose Therapy and Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation in Waldenström Macroglobulinemia: The Lymphoma Working Party of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation
The aim of this study was to analyze the results of autologous stem cell transplantation in patients with Waldenström macroglobulinemia and to determine the prognostic factors that have a significant impact on outcome. [J Clin Oncol]

Bone Marrow Graft-Versus-Host Disease: Early Destruction of Hematopoietic Niche Following MHC-Mismatched Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
This study provided evidence of bone marrow (BM) graft-versus-host disease (GVHD); with the identification of osteoblasts as the main target for GVHD in BM. Moreover, the data showed the potential for monoclonal antibody therapies to enhance immune reconstitution in vivo for patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. [Blood]

Glutathione S-Transferase T1-Null Seems to be Associated with Graft Failure in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
The data suggest that when glutathione S-transferase theta-1 (GSTT1)-null patients are transplanted with a GSTT1-positive graft, rejection due to an antibody-mediated immune response against GSTT1 displayed on transplanted stem cells may take place. [Bone Marrow Transplant]

Functional Module Analysis Reveals Differential Osteogenic and Stemness Potentials in Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells from Bone Marrow and Wharton’s Jelly of Umbilical Cord
Investigators compared the gene expression profiles, enriched canonical pathways and genetic networks of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and Wharton’s jelly matrix of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells. [Stem Cells Dev]

Human Hematopoietic Stem Cells Express Oct4 Pseudogenes and Lack the Ability to Initiate Oct4 Promoter-Driven Gene Expression
The focus of this work was to corroborate reports that Oct4 is involved in the regulation of adult stem cell self-renewal and differentiation, using a combination of methodologies to rule out pseudogene interference. [J Negat Results Biomed]

Notch Signaling: A Novel Regulating Differentiation Mechanism of Human Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Insulin-Producing Cells In Vitro
