    TOP STORY
The Suture Provides a Niche for Mesenchymal Stem Cells of Craniofacial Bones
Scientists identified Gli1+ cells within the suture mesenchyme as the main mesenchymal stem cell population for craniofacial bones. They are not associated with vasculature, give rise to all craniofacial bones in the adult and are activated during injury repair. [Nat Cell Biol] Abstract

PUBLICATIONS (Ranked by impact factor of the journal)
Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Attenuate Pulmonary Infection Caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa via Inhibiting Overproduction of Prostaglandin E2
The therapeutic and mechanistic effects of adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells on P. aeruginosa pulmonary infection were evaluated in a murine model of P. aeruginosa pneumonia. [Stem Cells] Abstract

Natural Assembly of Platelet Lysate-Loaded Nanocarriers into Enriched 3D Hydrogels for Cartilage Regeneration
In vitro release studies were carried out focusing on the quantification of PDGF-BB and TGF-β1 growth factors. Human adipose derived stem cells were entrapped in 3D hydrogels and cultured in vitro under chondrogenic stimulus, in order to assess their potential use for cartilage regeneration. [Acta Biomater] Abstract

Differentiation Potential of Human Chorion-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Motor Neuron-Like Cells in Two- and Three-Dimensional Culture Systems
Since there is no report on potential of human chorion-derived mesenchymal stem cells (C-MSCs) to differentiate into motor neuron cells in two- and three-dimensional culture systems, scientists set out to determine the effect of retinoic acid and sonic hedgehog on differentiation of human C-MSCs into motor neuron-like cells cultured on tissue culture plates and electrospun nanofibrous gelatin scaffold. [Mol Neurobiol] Abstract

Extracellular Vesicles Secreted by Bone Marrow- and Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Fail to Suppress Lymphocyte Proliferation
Researchers compared the immunosuppressive potency of mesenchymal stromal cells derived from bone marrow and adipose tissue, with their secreted extracellular vesicles in a standardized lymphocyte proliferation assay. [Stem Cells Dev] Abstract

Three-Dimensional Differentiation of Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Insulin-Producing Cells
Researchers evaluated the collagen/hyaluronic acid scaffold effect on the differentiation of insulin-producing cells from adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells. Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells were cultured and seeded in a collagen/hyaluronic acid scaffold and then treated with induction media. [Cell Tissue Res] Abstract

Intravenous Delivery of Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Attenuates Acute Radiation-Induced Lung Injury in Rats
Researchers evaluated the therapeutic capacity of adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (Ad-MSCs) to heal acute radiation-induced lung injury (RILI) in rats. Intravenous delivery of Ad-MSCs attenuated acute RILI. [Cytotherapy] Abstract

Tonsil-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Produce CXCR2-Binding Chemokines and Acquire Follicular Dendritic Cell-Like Phenotypes under TLR3 Stimulation
Scientists analyzed the expression profile of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) in mesenchymal stromal cells from human tonsils (T-MSCs) and stimulated the T-MSCs with TLR agonists. TLR3 stimuli induced C-C chemokine receptor type 6 expression in T-MSCs after 24 hours. [Cytokine] Abstract

Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD) Enhances Angiogenic Effect of Mesenchymal Stem Cell by Upregulating VEGF Expression after Focal Cerebral Ischemia
Researchers aimed to clarify the mechanism of BYHWD on angiogenesis mediated by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Exosomes from MSCs and MSCs treated by BYHWD induced elevated microRNA (miRNA)-126 expression and reduced miR-221 and miR-222 expression. [J Mol Neurosci] Abstract

Mesenchymal Stem Cell Derived Extracellular Vesicles: Towards Cell-Free Therapeutic Applications
The authors review current knowledge related to the potential use of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) in various diseases and discuss the promising future for EVs as an alternative, cell-free therapy. [Mol Ther] Abstract
