PUBLICATIONS(Ranked by impact factor of the journal)IN VITROThe effects of the porous structure and stiffness softening on proliferation and differentiation of human bone-marrow MSCs (hBM-MSCs) were investigated. The results of immunohistochemistry, histological, ELISA, and qPCR demonstrated that hBM-MSCs maintained their lineage commitment during stiffness relaxation. [Adv Healthc Mater] Abstract Investigators demonstrated that TSG‐6 was a crucial factor that influenced many functional properties of MSCs. The transcriptomic sequencing analysis of WT and TSG‐6−/−‐MSCs showed that the loss of TSG‐6 led to the perturbation of several transcription factors, cytokines and other pathways involved in MSCs biological processes. [Stem Cells] Abstract 3D Structure and Processing Methods Direct the Biological Attributes of ECM-Based Cardiac Scaffolds The effects of 3D structure and processing method on cardiac scaffolds were addressed using three distinct scaffolds made through different production technologies from the same biomaterial: decellularized porcine cardiac extracellular matrix (pcECM). pcECM patch, injectable pcECM hydrogel, and electrospun pcECM scaffolds were all proven as viable prospective therapies for MI, thus generally preserving pcECM beneficial properties. [Sci Rep] Full Article Scientists produced a secretome from adipose-derived MSCs that were free of exogenous molecules by incubation within a saline solution. Various in vitro models were used to evaluate the effects of the secretome on cellular processes that promote tissue regeneration. A cardiotoxin-induced skeletal muscle injury model was used to test the regenerative effects of the whole secretome or isolated extracellular vesicle fraction in vivo. [Stem Cell Res Ther] Full Article The authors analyzed the migration capability and gene expression profiles of TLR3-stimulated human MSCs (hMSCs) using RNA sequencing, wound healing, and transwell cell migration assay. Along with increased cell migration, the TLR3 stimulation also increased the expression of cytokines, chemokines, and cell migration-related genes. [J Biol Chem] Abstract The effects of rosiglitazone on the brown adipogenesis and the association of MAPK and PI3K pathways was investigated during the in vitro adipogenic differentiation of telomerase transformed mesenchymal stromal cells. Our data indicate that 2 µM rosiglitazone enhanced adipogenesis by over-expression of PPAR-γ and C/EBP-α. Using autologous blood, hemorrhagic stroke was induced at specific coordinates in the right basal ganglia. After 30 minutes, rats were treated with either bone marrow-derived MSCs or a phosphate-buffered saline placebo via direct intraventricular infusion. [Sci Rep] Full Article Mesenchymal Stem Cells Transplanted into Spinal Cord Injury Adopt Immune Cell-Like Characteristics Mouse bone marrow-derived MSCs were transplanted 24 hours following severe contusion spinal cord injury (SCI) in mice. As controls, MSCs transplanted to the uninjured spinal cord and non-transplanted MSCs were used. At 7 days post transplantation, the MSCs were isolated from the SCI, and their global transcriptional changes, survival, differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and phenotypes were investigated. [Stem Cell Res Ther] Full Article Researchers analyzed a strontium substituted ß-tricalcium phosphate associated with syngeneic, unexpanded, and undifferentiated mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow or adipose tissue as a new tissue engineering approach for spinal fusion procedures. A posterolateral fusion was performed in 15 ovariectomized and 15 sham-operated inbred rats. [J Cell Physiol] Abstract Researchers investigated the effects of bone marrow MSC-derived conditioned medium (BMSC-CM) on hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-induced injury of H9c2 myocardial cells, and the potential mechanisms. Cell injury was determined through level of cell viability, lactate dehydrogenase release, total intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψm), and cell apoptosis. [J Cell Physiol] Abstract Scientists investigated the anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic and regenerative effects of GMSCs pretreated with nanostructured liposomes enriched with moringin in an animal model of spinal cord injury (SCI). REVIEWSDental Stem Cells as a Promising Source for Cell Therapies in Neurological Diseases There is a pressing need to identify alternative therapeutic approaches to treat neurodegenerative diseases. Considering the global impact of these diseases and the need for new therapies, stem cell therapies have emerged as a promising treatment for neurodegenerative diseases. Notably, dental stem cells are an optimal candidate for cell-based therapeutic approaches, due primarily to the ease with which they can be obtained and their high regenerative potential. [Crit Rev Clin Lab Sci] Abstract Understanding the secretome of in vitro cultured MSC populations, by the analysis of the corresponding conditioned medium, will enable us to evaluate its utility as a new therapeutic option.
