A New Mechanism for Accessing Damaged DNA

Ultraviolet (UV)-DDB was previously thought to require the assistance of additional proteins that shift the nucleosome. Researchers found that additional proteins are not necessarily needed to detect UV-induced lesions; instead, the UV-DDB complex takes advantage of the intrinsic dynamics of nucleosomal DNA.
