Hyperactivation of Sympathetic Nerves Drives Depletion of Melanocyte Stem Cells

Using a combination of adrenalectomy, denervation, chemogenetics, cell ablation and knockout of the adrenergic receptor specifically in melanocyte stem cells, scientists found that the stress-induced loss of melanocyte stem cells was independent of immune attack or adrenal stress hormones. Skin Permeability Barrier Formation by the Ichthyosis-Causative Gene FATP4 through Formation of the Barrier Lipid ω-O-cylceramide

In vitro experiments revealed that FATP4 exhibited acyl-CoA synthetase activity toward an ω-hydroxy fatty acid, an intermediate of the acylceramide synthetic pathway. The In Vivo Effect of Lacto-N-Neotetraose (LNnT) on the Expression of Type 2 Immune Response Involved Genes in the Wound Healing Process

Phospholipase A2 from Bee Venom Increases Poly(I:C)-Induced Activation in Human Keratinocytes

Investigators demonstrated that bee venom-sphospholipase A2 increased the intracellular uptake of polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (poly(I:C)), phosphorylation of the nuclear factor-kappa B and mitogen-activated protein kinases, and poly(I:C)-mediated IL-8 production in human keratinocytes. Resistance of Melanoma to Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors Is Overcome by Targeting the Sphingosine Kinase-1

Increased expression of sphingosine kinase-1 in tumor cells was significantly associated with shorter survival in metastatic melanoma patients treated with anti-PD-1. Nedd4 Ubiquitylates VDAC2/3 to Suppress Erastin-Induced Ferroptosis in Melanoma

Investigators showed that Nedd4 was induced following erastin treatment, which led to the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of the channels. Depletion of Nedd4 limited the protein degradation of VDAC2/3, which increased the sensitivity of cancer cells to erastin. [Nat Commun] Full Article
