MNK1 Signaling Induces an ANGPTL4-Mediated Gene Signature to Drive Melanoma Progression

Researchers showed that changes in the activity, or abundance, of MAP kinase-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 (MNK1) resulted in changes in the expression of pro-oncogenic and pro-invasive genes. Among the MNK1-upregulated genes, they identified angiopoietin-like 4 (ANGPTL4), which in turn promoted an invasive phenotype via its ability to induce the expression of matrix metalloproteinases. Using RNA-seq data set from Sequence Reads Archive experiments published at the National Center for Biotechnology Information, investigators determined and compared the transcriptional levels of the 25 selenoproteins-coding sequences found in 16 human-derived melanoma cell lines and compared to four melanocyte controls. Infrared‐A Irradiation‐Induced Inhibition of Human Keratinocyte Proliferation and Potential Mechanisms

The authors studied the effects of β3-tubulin gene silencing on microtubule (MT) dynamics, cell cycle, and microvesicle (MV) release in human malignant melanoma cells.
