Synthesis and Characterization of Silk Ionomers for Layer-By-Layer Electrostatic Deposition on Individual Mammalian Cells

Through the optimization of material properties and composition of incubation buffers, silk ionomers could be electrostatically assembled on the surface of murine fibroblasts and human mesenchymal stem cells to form nanoscale multilayers without significantly impairing cell viability.

Heat Treatment Dependent Cytotoxicity of Silicalite-1 Films Deposited on Ti-6Al-4V Alloy Evaluated by Bone-Derived Cells

Two types of bone-derived cells were used for a biocompatibility assessment. While no increase in cell membrane damage, in ROS generation and in TNF-alpha secretion of bone-derived cells grown on both silicalite-1 films was found.

Huge Open-Access Journal Deal Inked by University of California and Springer Nature

The University of California (UC) system announced it has signed the biggest open-access deal in North America with one of the largest commercial scientific publishers. The agreement with Springer Nature includes a commitment by the publisher to explore making all articles that UC corresponding authors publish in the Nature family of journals immediately free to read on publication starting in 2022.
