    Study: Fish-Oil Supplements May Cut Breast-Cancer Risk
    Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center surveyed more than 35,000 postmenopausal women in Western Washington and found that those who took omega-3 fish-oil supplements had a 32 percent lower incidence of breast cancer.     6-Thioguanine Selectively Kills BRCA2-Defective Tumors and Overcomes PARP Inhibitor Resistance
    The data show that 6-thioguanine(6TG) efficiently kills BRCA2-defective tumors and suggest that 6TG may be effective in the treatment of advanced tumors that have developed resistance to poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors or platinum-based chemotherapy. [Cancer Res]

    Janus Kinase 2 is Required for the Initiation but Not Maintenance of Prolactin-Induced Mammary Cancer
    To assess the importance of Janus kinase 2 (Jak2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 signaling during mammary cancer initiation and progression, researchers generated a prolactin receptor-induced mammary cancer model that allows the functional ablation of the Jak2 gene in the mammary epithelium before and after neoplastic transformation.     Genentech Provides Update from Avastin FDA Advisory Committee Meeting
    Genentech, Inc. announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee voted 12 to one that use of Avastin® (bevacizumab) in combination with paclitaxel for previously untreated (first-line) advanced HER2-negative breast cancer be removed from Avastin’s U.S. label.
