PUBLICATIONS(Ranked by impact factor of the journal)Identification of Blood Vascular Endothelial Stem Cells by the Expression of Protein C Receptor Scientists identified Protein C receptor-expressing (Procr+) endothelial cells as vascular endothelial stem cells (VESCs) in multiple tissues. Procr+ VESCs exhibited robust clonogenicity in culture, high vessel reconstitution efficiency in transplantation, long-term clonal expansion in lineage tracing, and EndMT characteristics. [Cell Res] Full Article Researchers report that DEP-1 is required for Src activation and phosphorylation of its endothelial cell-specific substrate, VE-cadherin, after systemic injection of VEGF. Accordingly, VEGF-induced vascular leakage was abrogated in the DEP-1 deficient mice. [Cancer Res] Abstract Investigators explored a new approach to enhance aneurysm neck endothelialization via erythropoietin (EPO)-induced endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) stimulation. EPO improved the viability, migration, cytokine modulation, and gene expression of bone marrow-derived EPCs and the results showed that EPO increased the number of circulating EPCs and improved endothelialization compared with untreated rats. [Stem Cells Transl Med] Abstract The authors compared the functional angiogenic ability of human aortic endothelial cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells using a three-dimensional (3D) microfluidic cell culture system. [Sci Rep] Full Article Protective effects of low concentrations of progesterone and estradiol-17β, alone and in combination, were investigated in a nongenomic model of vascular protection which measured acute increases in nitric oxide production by cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells. [J Steroid Biochem Mol Biol] Abstract Adipose-Derived Stem Cells Sustain Prolonged Angiogenesis through Leptin Secretion Scientists compared the secreted cytokine profile of hypoxia-conditioned adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) with normoxic ASCs and they analyzed the effect of ASCs conditioned medium on endothelial cells. [Growth Factors] Abstract Circulation Enrichment of Functional Endothelial Progenitor Cells by Infantile Phototherapy The effect of two infantile phototherapy regimens, including single and intensive phototherapy was investigated on biological features of circulation endothelial progenitor cells as well as on serum secretion of two important chemotactic cytokines, SDF-1 and VEGF. [J Cell Biochem] Abstract Using an adapted version of a previously constructed cigarette smoke constituent sampling device, the authors collected the hydrophilic fraction of e-cigarette vapor and exposed human umbilical vein endothelial cells to the mixture of compounds present in the vapor of four different single-use e-cigarettes, six different liquid vapors produced by the same refillable e-cigarette, and one e-cigarette with an exchangeable liquid cartridge.
