AHR Mediates the Aflatoxin B1 Toxicity Associated with Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Aflatoxin exposure is a crucial factor in promoting the development of primary hepatocellular carcinoma in individuals infected with the hepatitis virus. AHR-deficient cells tolerated high concentrations of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), in which AFB1 adduct formation was significantly decreased.

Targeting of eIF6-Driven Translation Induces a Metabolic Rewiring That Reduces NAFLD and the Consequent Evolution to Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Scientists provided proof-of-concept that in vitro pharmacological inhibition of eukaryotic initiation factor 6 (eIF6) activity recapitulated the protective effects of eIF6 depletion.

Manipulating Liver Bile Acid Signaling by Nanodelivery of Bile Acid Receptor Modulators for Liver Cancer Immunotherapy

Researchers showed that nanodelivery of bile acid receptor modulators elicited robust antitumor immune responses and significantly changed the immune microenvironment in the murine hepatic tumor. In addition, ex vivo stimulation on both murine and patient hepatic tumor tissues suggested the observation might be meaningful for clinical practice.

Lipotoxicity-Induced STING1 Activation Stimulates MTORC1 and Restricts Hepatic Lipophagy

Scientists found that PA treatment or direct stimulation of STING1 promoted, whereas STING1 deficiency impaired, MTORC1 activation, suggesting that STING1 was involved in PA-induced MTORC1 activation.

    Abstract

Critical Role for Hepatocyte-Specific eNOS in NAFLD and NASH

Investigators showed genetic deletion and viral knockdown of hepatocyte-specific endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) exacerbated hepatic steatosis and inflammation, decreased hepatic mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation and respiration, increased mitochondrial H2O2 emission, and impaired the hepatic mitophagic response.

Phosphorylation of NF-κBp65 Drives Inflammation-Mediated Hepatocellular Carcinogenesis and Is a Novel Therapeutic Target

The levels of Nuclear factorκB65 (NF-κBp65) and NF-κBp65 phosphorylation were assessed in including normal liver, primary hepatocellular carcinoma and paired paracancerous tissues.

N-Glycosylation Patterns Correlate with Hepatocellular Carcinoma Genetic Subtypes

Researchers showed that spatial hepatocellular carcinoma tissue profiling of N-linked glycosylation by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization imaging mass spectrometry might serve as a new method to evaluate the tumor heterogeneity.

Exosomal Tumor Necrosis Factor-α from Hepatocellular Cancer Cells (Huh-7) Promote Osteoclast Differentiation

Scientists showed that cellular communication of exosomal TNF-α from Huh-7 regulatesdosteoclast differentiation through NF-κB/CTSK/TRAP expressions.

    Abstract

Telocytes Promote Hepatocellular Carcinoma by Activating the ERK Signaling Pathway and miR-942-3p/MMP9 Axis

Primary telocytes (TCs) from liver para-cancer tissues were cultured in vitro. To verify the role of TCs in hepatocellular carcinoma, a metastatic cancer animal model was established using three types of liver cancer cell lines in vivo.

Nicotinamide N-Methyltransferase (NNMT) Upregulation via the mTORC1-ATF4 Pathway Activation Contributes to Palmitate-Induced Lipotoxicity in Hepatocytes

Scientists demonstrated that palmitate upregulated nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) expression via activating activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4) in a mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1)-dependent mechanism in that mTORC1 inhibition by both Torin1 and rapamycin attenuated ATF4 activation and NNMT upregulation.
